Wow, impressed by the modern luxries and accomodations. I have not been to Spider Lake for 27 years this is a perfect retreat destination.
Thank you SF CHURCH ADULT CHOIR. Mi
Our very large family loves to stay at Spider Lake Retreat. We have been getting together there every year for five years now. One of the activities we did this past year was make a lip dub to Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire." We made full use of the place to showcase our talents. I look forward to our family reunion again this year. If you care to see more of the interior of the Retreat House while watching our lip dub, click below...
We just returned from a week (last wk of June) at the Retreat after a full week of family fun, all 30 of us!! It was our 12th consecutive annual reunion so we have some experience with facilities, and this was by far one of the best. Nice for so many reasons: clean and bright inside, great game room, great meeting rooms, very comfortable beds and furniture, incredible kitchen, and outside the lawn and trees were fantastic. The waterfront was awesome with a nice sandy beach, floating dock to swim to, and also another dock and ramp for a skiboat. We had a family highland games on the lawn by the lake one day complete with cabor tossing (pool noodles), sword dancing (used canoe paddles instead of sharp swords) and just had a fantastic time: not much in the way of misquitoes or flies either in late June. Spider lake itself was a clear water lake when we were there with a grassy bottom, a fun island to explore or swim around right in front of the Retreat and boat traffic was mild to medium, and no swimmers itch.
Hilda and Sheryl, along with Laura were great cooks. They catered our week and made fantastic meals(3/day),contact them at Charles Layton Chocolates in Traverse City.
Our family vacation in Northern Michigan my favorite week of the year. After YEARS of searching for a big enough place for our annual family reunion, we finally found one that fit our needs -- and it's gorgeous! We've been to both Northport Bay and Spider Lake.
I like each, for different reasons. Spider Lake has the super accessible gentle beach. Northport has the bigger water, the hot hub and nearby artsy communities. Both provide a great blend of family/community areas and private rooms. Hard to choose, but you can't go wrong!
Welcome to the Spider Lake Retreat guestbook. We went live on July 25, 2011, and invite guests to post comments on their experience in using Spider Lake Retreat.
